The collection documents the lives of three generations of the F.C. Hubbell family. The family papers include F.C.'s personal papers, as well as papers pertaining to his wife, children, grandchildren and a few distant relatives. These personal papers include financial records, ledgers, journals, deeds, correspondence, drawings, tax papers, papers related to the F.C. Hubbell estate, and real estate and farm records. The business papers include records for many of the companies with which Frederick and his family were involved, including Nollen & Hubbell, Des Moines Clay Company, Hubbell Brothers, Inc., Hubbell Brothers & Cross, Inc., Success Heater Manufacturing Company, Jasper County Farm, J & J Enterprises, Raccoon Valley Horse Center, Inc. and Hubbing, Inc. #1. F.C. Hubbell, a prominent Des Moines businessman, was the oldest child of Frederick Marion and Frances Cooper Hubbell. A life long resident of Des Moines, Hubbell married Mary Belle Windsor in 1889. The couple had 2 children, Frederick Windsor and James Windsor. After running his own company, F.C. Hubbell & Co., Frederick partnered with his father and his uncle (H.D.
